Jenolan Caves is to receive millions of dollars for restoration and repair work. Member for Bathurst, Paul Toole announced the funding which recognises the importance of Jenolan Caves as a World Heritage listed site. Since 2019, the area has been affected by bushfires, floods and severe damage to access roads. This has meant visitors have been unable to reach the caves. In additiion, coronavirus has meant a huge reduction in the capacity of the caves to receive visitors. Mr Toole said this latest round of targeted flood recovery funding for Jenolan Caves comes under a $200 million package of eight key programs. $200 million is also available to support rebuilding damaged infrastucture.
